Texture artist

Texture Artists are responsible for creating textures for characters and environments.

The texturing stage is a volume-wrapping technique, which applies textures and patterns. The shading stage consists in applying materials, shine, transparency, relief, etc. These techniques allow the surfaces of virtual objects to behave realistically, depending on the desired materials (fabrics, metals, minerals, plants, etc.), and to react to the lighting conditions. Juggling between different graphic styles, based on actual references or not, Texture Artists are led to use a wide variety of softwares, easily switching between 2D and 3D. This work clearly requires artistic skills, as well as technical skills, just like cinematographers of traditional cinema.
